"Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, so that an abundance of water will cover you? Can you send forth lightnings that they may go
and say to you, ‘here we are?’”
Job 38:34-35

So you have accomplished some great things in your life?

You get great respect at home and at work? You were top ten in your school or an employee of excellence at your place of employment? People look up at you at church? You accomplish everything you are asked to do?

That is wonderful, isn't it? It is indeed impressive when we perform every task assigned to us in an excellent manner; we should always strive to do the very best we can.

BUT, if we are inclined to boast of our abilities, soon, very soon the splendor of nature will show us just how insignificant we really are.

We cannot lift up our voice and move the clouds, can we? We cannot lift up our voice and make the rain fall on us, can we?

Look back to verse 31, Chapter 38 of Job:  "Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, or loose the cords of Orion?" No, we cannot.

We cannot move even the smallest, twinkling star, nor can we hold back the weakest of the morning sunbeams. We may speak of our power but the heavens can laugh us to scorn.

How small we are in the scheme of things, huh? Here we are again, a few weeks into summer, and when the Pleiades, a magnificent cluster of stars, shines forth, we cannot hold back its brilliance, now can we?

Our great Creator placed the seasons to revolve in due course by divine appointment and no matter how large men might be, no matter how far you and I have come or what we have accomplished in our lives, one thing is for sure, we cannot change their schedule, huh? Uh! Lord, Lord, Lord, "What is man that thou art mindful of Him?" (Psalm 8:4)

Both in the spiritual and in the natural, our power is limited.  We should always remember that ALL power belongs to the Mighty God of Jacob and in Him and ONLY in Him can we even survive the greatest pain because only in Him is the life-giving power of the Comforter.

When the darkness of winter comes into our lives, only God can remove it and only He can restore the warmth of His being in us. I cannot resurrect my dead, sinful soul, but He can revive me and raise me up to stand on mountains and to walk on stormy seas, for ALL things are possible to Him.

Father God, I need your heavenly influence in my life every day that You allow me to live. I need your clear and shining love in my life. I need the great beams of your grace in me and I need the light of your countenance; when I suffer much from my sin and temptation, You are my guiding light.  Father, I pray that You work your wonders in me.  In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Have a great day in Him who loves you.

I love you all,

Daniel Leal
