" Watch the path of your feet and all
The Bible, the Word of God, constantly advises us to walk in the ways of the Lord. Today the writer advises us to look down and check out the path we are walking. It is amazes me to think that it does not take much of anything to make us stumble as we walk on our feet.
A small pebble will hurt our feet and hinder us from walking in comfort, does it not? A small pothole in our way will cause us to stumble, will it not? The heart is involved in this thought today, let us back up a little bit to verse 23 and read through verse 27. It reads like this:
“ Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth and put devious speech far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil." (Proverbs 4:23-27)
Our heart-- our feelings of love and desire-- dictates to a great extent how we live simply because we always seem to find a way to do what we enjoy. Here Salomon tells us to guard our heart above all else. He advises us to concentrate on the desires that will keep us on the right track with God. Dear reader, make sure that your affections push you in the right direction. Put boundaries on your desires, put a muzzle on the mouth, put a bridle on your tongue. Don't go after all that you see and it looks good to your eyes, it may not be good for your heart or your soul. Look straight ahead; keep your eyes on the ultimate goal - heaven. Do not be sidetracked by detours that lead to sin.
Father God, your children and I thank you today. We worship You and adore You. Help us, Father of love and mercy, to walk the straight and narrow with You and by your side. Keep us holy in You, in the name of Jesus we pray today, Amen.
We love you all, Daniel Leal
